Janet L. Walker, LCSW, LSW, MSW, CAC
Janet has twenty
years of experience, as psychotherapist. She
has a Masters degree in Social Work from the
University of Pennsylvania. She is a licensed
Clinical Social Worker and a certified
Addictions Counselor.
Along with a seventeen year private practice,
she has had a variety of work experiences,
which include but are not limited to the
following:
- Director of (one out-patient center of)
Charter Counseling Center.
- Developed and directed " The Living
Center"- an inner city out-patient
recovery (drug and alcohol addiction) program
for pregnant and postpartum women, under a
Robert Wood Johnson
Foundation grant.
- Group therapist for a hospital mental
health unit.
Play therapist for a Catholic Charities,
abused children's program.
- Group therapist for a geriatric program
Psychotherapist for several different private
and non-profit groups.
- Christian Pastoral counselor.
Janet has been involved with her
Church, serving on Church Council many years,
since her early twenties. She assisted in
starting a new Lutheran Church, developing
and running the Christian Education program.
She has also been involved with her
Synods research on Transition
Consultants-for Churches going through Pastor
changes. Janet, served on the Board of
Lutheran Children and Family Services.
In the community, Janet was elected to the
School Board, serving for nine years, and a
term as President. She was elected and served
on the County Government Study Commission.
She was appointed to the County Children and
Youth Board. Janet served on her
Townships Park and Recreation Board and
Historical Society Board. She is a member of
the National Association of Social Workers.
Additional information includes that Janet
was a foster parent and at one time she owned
a small, retail business. Janet has two sons,
one a medical doctor and the other a PhD.
Janet enjoys Christian counseling. Like
many, she was the victim of a troubled
marriage, and began questioning God. Today
she is strong in the Lord; she has been
attending Bible Studies and sees how the
Bible offers great psychological wisdom and
tremendous love in Christ Jesus.
